Kakakoram Highway

This video was a big eye-opener to me regarding Chinese highway construction. We have heard that China is investing heavily to reestablish the trade that they enjoyed when the ancient Silk Road was a commercial conduit between the West and China. This video depicts the highlights of an 800 mile road, the Karakoram Highway, between Pakistan and China. It offers spectacular feats of engineering and breathtaking scenery through some of the most rugged terrain on Earth.

I thought it showed part of the new Chinese initiative. But .... here is the surprises .... this highway was built between 1959 and 1986. China is playing a long game in establishing itself as a world power.
