SpaceX Starship Stacked!
In the first few minutes of this video, Scott Manley, my favorite YouTube space engineer, shows us great images of the recent “stacking” of SpaceX’s “Starship" atop their enormous Big Falcon Rocket (BFR) booster. He has assessed to photos I had not seen anywhere. His explanations are always helpful. Note that for this test, Elon Musk insisted that all 27 of the engines be fitted to the Starship (a photo-op to show just how far along this program to fly to the Moon is).
Then, he discusses the thermal protection system (hexagonal black ceramic tiles about the size of dinner plates) that cover the surfaces of Starship most vulnerable to frictional heating during reentry. Although interesting to me because Barnes Engineering was involved in the Space Shuttle thermal tile failure analysis, you can skip this longer part.
