Belfast and the Schizophrenic Bush

Say hello to our schizophrenic bush. It has been growing in our South lawn ever since we moved here. This is the first time that it has greeted Fall with green and brown leaves. Although multi stemmed, we had alway considered it one plant. Not so sure anymore.

Keep in memory the fact that this bush (it user to be very small 15 years ago) hides a vital surveyor’s pin, a 3/4 inch rebar with a numbered ceramic cap. That key pin establishes a measurable relationship between pins marking the Southwest and Southeast corners of our property at the high tide line. We were admonished by Larry Dean to leave the little bush in place so that its pin would not be removed in order to mow the grass.
