Robert's Paw's Boyhood
Something deeply personal here.
(Editor’s note: This handsome red volume was created by Paw’s (Bob’s) grandfather in 1943 after a summer visit with his grandson in Stamford, Connecticut. It is, of course, of particular interest to our family, but further provides a delightful, colorful slice of American history in the 1870s — an invaluable primary source. The original text is worth a slow read, especially if you’re lucky enough to be sitting with it and Paw (Bob)! But also, a digitized version has been created by Paw’s kids (Bear and Kristin) to make it accessible to all. It was an honor to spend time creating this, allowing for a deeper meditation on our great-grandfather’s world as he sat and penned it so many years ago. It is evident where Paw gets his story-telling skills and deep love for grandchildren!
Here’s a sneak preview…
“Paw (my father’s father) wrote the experiences and talks in this book in the summer of 1943 (over 80 years ago), on Westover Road (where I grew up.) They are meant to be read as bedtime stories to Robert (4-year-old me!) by his granny.”
