Temperature Anomalies

Temperature Anomalies

Here are two excellent visualizations of the same NASA data related to global warming (Climate Change).

The first presents annual temperature variations on a spreadsheet-like page full of individual countries. Blue circles appear when the surface temperature in that country is lower than average and red circles when the weather is hotter than normal. You view it as a short video with each country flashing blue or red over time. The data set covers 1880 through 2017.

The second uses the same data, but shows it as a video of a map of the Earth with continents overlaid with “clouds of color” indicating a colder than usual year or warmer than usual year. You can observe particular warming in the polar regions as well as the overall temperature climb with time.

This is very persuasive information and more folks should see it. Just reading about climate change is not as shocking as seeing it unfold.
