Odysseus Lunar Lander: Part One
The above is a screengrab of the YouTube channel that provided excellent coverage in real time. NASA has now taken the feed down, but it was watched simultaneously in real time by Bear, Kristin and Paw… excellent!)
Odyesseus Spacecraft to land on the Moon this afternoon (22 Feb 2024) at 5:30 pm.
The first lunar landing mission from the USA in over 50 years will be exciting to watch. The Olyesseus spacecraft, built by a private Texas company, Intuitive Machines, has already been successfully launched by SpaceX and will touchdown on the Moon at 5:30 pm. Live coverage will start at 4:30 pm.
There will be high-resolution color cameras on board to record the actual landing on the Moon and the view of the flight across the Moon too the landing site.
Like recent lunar landers from other countries, Odysseus plans to operate only during its first lunar day on the moon. There are no heaters to keep it running during the lunar night. It carries multiple science missions from NASA and private companies.
Have fun!
