My Only Attempt at Getting a Cartoon Published

My Only Attempt at Getting a Cartoon Published

Back at the turn of the century, I was sure that “The New Yorker” magazine would publish my cartoon drawing based on the widespread use of “Driver Does Not Carry Cash” signs on commercial vehicles to discourage harassment of delivery truck drivers. I really saw great humor in my idea as to who, in a confrontation with a tank, would threaten whom. So I carefully drew my own artwork so the magazine would not worry about copyright problems. I didn’t just get a form letter of refusal to publish, but a form note.

Thus ended my cartooning career.
